Do you want to hear a short horror story? It’s so short; I could give it to you in one word – Philippines. Kidding, it’s a bluff.
But on the other note, we are so used of the constant issues that when someone offered change, we tend to refuse. Quoting Lord Varys from Game of Thrones series, “perhaps we’ve grown so used to horror we assume there’s no other way”.
Truth is, it’s not the country that is horrifying. It’s the people within it. And you might think we could never do something about it when in fact we could. How many hours in a day do we use social media spreading hate and ignorance like wildfire? How many times do we slam the president hard instead of showing respect and support? When will we ever learn? The enemy shouldn’t be our fellow. We should stop bringing each other down.
I’m still looking forward to the day when instead of animosity, we could develop amity; spread love rather than hate. As the scriptures say, “above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins”.
